Club Assembly & Handover

Wed, Jun 17th 2015 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

Prior to the new Rotary Year (1 July 2015) President Ian Campbell (right) hands over the chain of office to incoming President Peter McGavigan

President Peter (2015-2016) and President Ian (2014-2015)

Following a welcome to guests, President Ian Campbell presented Paul Harris Fellowships to Jim Douglas and Andrew Clark.

During his valedictory address, President Ian reviewed the many aspects of the Club that had developed over the last year and thanked all of the Club officers and members who had ably assisted him, in particular, Secretary Lindsay to whom he also passed on his best wishes for his future role as our District Governor in Rotary Year 2017-2018.

Past District Governor Alan Maclaughlan outlined that the function of a District Council member attending the Club Assembly was to feed back to District the 'health' and forward looking nature of a club, which he felt, in the case of Currie Balerno, would fully satisfy the requirements.

President Ian was then pleased to induct Peter McGavigan into the post of Club President 2015/16

Following the exchange of regalia, President Peter thanked Past President Ian for the excellent way he and his Club Council had carried out their roles in 2014/15.

President Peter then indicated that he intended to carry forward the good work of the past year, try to develop new associations with other local organisations and conduct the business of the new Rotary year in his own style.

Members then had the opportunity to question our new Committee Chairs on their plans for Club activities and events over the next twelve months.

Our Assembly and Handover evening concluded with the usual toast to 'Rotary, the World Over'.
