Bury St. Edmund's 2005

Members of the Wickford Club enjoyed the Annual pre Christmas weekend away, the Suffolk town of Bury St. Edmund's had been selected this year. We first visited the town about five years ago since then of course the Cathedral tower has been completed. What a difference that has made to the appearance. It is still with a sense of awe that you can view the remains of the Abbey realising just how large that structure must have been.
Bury St Edmund's is a pleasant town, ideally suited for a visit such as ours, a bit of shopping and heaps of fellowship. Our stay was made more memorable by the venue chosen, the Angel Hotel, a building itself that exudes character, coming complete with sloping floors, creaking floorboards and numbers among its past guests Charles Dickens as well as one or two other 'famous' residents.
