Activities in January and February 2014
Our recent activities have been severely curtailed by the local floods which have made access to the Bridge Hotel difficult at times. However we found time to induct a new Member, Emma Pattinson and to talk about our recent Christmas Collections.
Two of our meetings were held in a local cafe - Mocha D- in Shepperton and one in St John Fisher Hall when we were unable to reach the Bridge Hotel.
Also in February two of our Youth Speaks Teams, Matthew Arnold School and Halliford School took part in the Area competition and won through to the finals which will be held shortly.
The Thames continues to rise and several of our members found their homes surrounded by water but fortunately it did not rise enough to enter the houses. Others were not so lucky and Rotary will be helping them during the clean up when the floods have subsided. Needless to say, our photographic member was out with her camera on one of the days when the sun did shine.
