30 January 2014 Burns Supper

Thu, Jan 30th 2014 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

The Club's annual Burns Supper was held on 30 January at the Westlands Hotel.

Rotarian Ranald Shepherd was Master of Ceremonies at the Club's annual Burns Supper and welcomed all members, partners and guests, including visitors from Stirling, Carse of Stirling, Alloa and Callander Rotary Clubs and the Queen Victoria School Interact Club.
The evening got off to a great start with a well performed selection of traditional songs from the Dunblane High School Chorus Group.
Tom King from Queen Victoria School Interact Club piped in the haggis, carried in by Eve Isles McLeerey before Bob Watson gave a very spirited Address to the Haggis.
Liz Orr gave the Selkirk Grace and, after an excellent meal, Norman Sutherland gave the Immortal Memory, focusing on Burn's brief visit to Dunblane in 1787.
Rod Jones toasted the lassies with his usual wit but got his come uppance from Gillian Weighton who gave the reply.
The Dunblane High School Trad Group played an excellent selection of pieces then it was over to Lawrie Orr to give a very moving 'Address to the Toothache' before Ranald Shepherd gave the vote of thanks and President Colin Strachan the final toast.
The signing of Auld Lang Syne completed a very memorable evening.
