Recipients of Pride of Place Awards at a ceremony in Old Parliament Hall

This event completed the circle for  sponsored walk on the Rob Roy Way by Past President Jim MacGregor which allowed the Rotary club of St. andrews to become the main sponsor of the event.

The picture shows the recipients of Pride of Place Awards at a ceremony in Old Parliament Hall on Thursday 19 September which were given by the St. Andrews Preservation Trust to acknowledge design and workmanship in new buildings, restorations or renewed features of buildings. This was the third round of the Award which had previously been funded from a Bequest.  The picture reflects the range of awards to individuals who have restored their homes to public bodies such as the University of St. Andrews, the Strathmartine Trust, the St. Andrews Partnership and St. Leonards School who have added significantly to the built environment of the town with either restorations or new developments which include the statue to Bishop Wardlaw and the restoration of Martyrs Monument. The talents of local craftsmen, Messrs Watson Stonemasons and Henderson Fabrications (Blacksmiths) received special recognition. Sincere thanks to all Rotarians who contributed so generously to the Sponsored Walk on the Rob Roy Way and made this event possible. Jim Macgregor
