Memory Café Coffee Morning

Our memory café provides a great support service for people with dementia and their carers. If you can pop in for coffee, please come along and give your support.  The cafe has grown in members in recent months and we are very proud of this service.  


The Derwentside Memory Cafe 
The Rotary Club of Derwentside in partnership with the Derwentside Carers
The Memory Cafe provides an informal setting for people with short-term memory problems and their carers to exchange experiences and information.
wThey provide information as well as practical tips about coping with dementia and memory problems.
wThey assist in reducing the isolation often felt by people with dementia, their carers and families and provide a central point where education and information may be distributed.
The Memory Cafe runs every third Friday in the month, 2pm til 4pm. It is based in Consett Methodist Church Hall, Station Road.

This is a joint initiative between members of various Rotary Clubs who have recognised the need for increased support in the community for families affected by dementia.  There are 820,000 people living with dementia in the UK today, a number forecast to double within a generation.
