Dr Morris Bradley, a local resident and academic psychologist, gave an interesting talk to the members in support of the detailed research undertaken by James Hansen, an eminent American climate scientist. As far back as 1988, Hansen in addressing a Senate Committee stated he was 99% sure that our planet was being dangerously over-heated by carbon emissions from human use of fossil fuels. Carbon accumulates and persists in the troposphere : increasing from 315 ppm in 1957 to 393 ppm in 2011.
Morris illustrated that records of global temperature over the last 150 years clearly indicate that global warming is a fact. This in turn is giving rise to increasing weather events - particularly increasing melting of ice at the poles.
He emphasised that Hansen
