Rotary in the Community

Caring for the local community

Helping people within the local community is one of the main aims of the main roles of the members of the Rotary Club.

This is achieved through our Community Services Committee who manage our contribution to improving the life of the local community in many ways, as may be seen by following the links shown on our Community Projects webpage.

Among the main areas where the Rotary Club makes a difference are:

Witney Carnival: held on the second Saturday in July on The Leys Recreation area, this is the largest event to take place in the town.

The Rotary Concert: This takes place every year in Witney and involves talented local performers in an evening of entertainment aimed especially at older residents. We both organise the concert and provide transport to and from the venue where necessary.

The welfare of younger members of the Community is also important, especially where they feel vulnerable from a fear of bullying or maybe lack confidence in their current environment which in turn presents anxiety on safety grounds. The club recently made a donation to a local charity SAFE which works to reduce these problems. Read More...

Electric Blanket Testing: Annual electric blanket testing is another service we help to provide for the elderly to ensure the electric blankets being used are safe and in good working order.

Where necessary, the Rotary Club supplies replacements free of charge to Senior Citizens.
