Joseph Priestley Statue 100year Celibration
On Friday 12th Oct celebrations were held in Birstall to mark one hundred years to the day since the statue of Birstall's most famous son, Joseph Priestley, was unveiled in the
town's market place

Birstall Luddites

Newspaper report-- An inscribed memorial carved from local stone was be presented by the Priestley Society and the Rotary Club of Birstall Luddites to celebrate Birstall as the birthplace of Priestley. A play specially written for the occasion was be performed by pupils from Priestley's old school Batley Grammar School.

Scientist and TV presenter Adam Hart-Davis was  guest of honour at a special event to mark the 100th anniversary of the unveiling of the statue of Joseph Priestley in Birstall.
