Home Library Volunteer Service

Luton Someries Members now participate in the Library at Home Service.   This is where home bound people can request a visit from the local library.  Two Club Members visit a total of 4 home bound people and deliver books to them on a monthly basis.

The majority of home bound people are elderly with a variety of health problems including limited mobility.

Home bound people can borrow books in ordinary or large print, audio books, music audio visual items and jigsaws.

After asking about their interests and reading preferences the staff at the Library choose the books and make up a box ready for delivery. Club Members then deliver the box and return the books which have been read.

Club Members joined the Home Library volunteers 12 months ago and have found this to be a very valuable and worthwhile service.
