Marilyn talks about inspiring the next generation.
After some three years as head of Sanquhar Academy Marilyn told the club about her work improving academic standards, trying to build capacity in staff, and generally changing the aspirations of pupils. She described how Curriculum for Excellence is only one part of the drive to achieve her School Improvement Agenda and introduce Employability Studies.
She highlighted the achievements so far and the trials and tribulations that go with the territory of education in financially testing times.
This all with a robust but inspiring style that earned her praise and congratulations from Rotarians who have been doing mock interviews at the school for many years and have seen just how positive progress has been.
