Bill, of Leeds Elmete RC District 1040 fame, spoke on his career as an oncology consultant.
We know Bill well from his many visits to our club but we maybe do not know much about the subject of oncology except that the dreaded "C" word affects us all to some degree or other at some time in our lives. This was an opportunity to expand our knowledge in a less fraught environment.
Of particular interest was the parallels between Bill's career and the development of cancer treatments from the 60's through to the noughties. At each stage it seemed that Bill was at that part of his career when something new also created opportunity for him.
A typical case of being in the right place at the right time.
It was also noted with some appreciation that he suggested he funded a drink for his many friends at Thornhill. We will remember him!!!
