'TO INSPIRE A WORLD RICHER IN NATURE'

 

Ian Darling FRICS, National Chairman of the RSPB Council, gave us a very interesting and informative talk on the RSPB. Conservation is at the heart of their work and in particular for birds. Ospreys have now come back to breed in Scotland and the Sea Eagles, once made extinct by man, are now thriving on the East Coast of Fife. However it is not all about birds.  Projects to maintain habitats help not only birds but many other species including red squirrels, basking sharks, butterflies and bumble bees. RSPB also tries to influence Government Policy towards conservation and work with Farmers and the Fishing Industry to maintain habitats conducive to wildlife.

 

RSPB work is not confined just to the UK as they have projects helping to maintain rain-forests and habitats in many parts of the world including Russia and Kazakhstan. One major strategy is to engage young people in the work and inspire the next generation towards conservation so that
