INTERNATIONAL AND FOUNDATION COMMITTEE

Proposals 2014- 2015
Foundation and Polio
The Club remains deeply committed to an annual donation to Rotary Foundation, which in its turn supports many good causes throughout the world via matched funding.
Mbale Water Project
The Club is actively proceeding with Phase 2 of this project and this will continue in 2014-15. All aspects are well in hand and this worthwhile project should be completed this year.
School in a Bag
School in a Bag is a simple solution created to help poor, orphan, vulnerable and disaster affected children throughout the world. Each SchoolBag is filled with stationery, learning resources and eating utensils that will enable a child to write, draw, colour, calculate, express themselves and above all learn.
The aim is to finance 100 bags and then to work with local schools and have them finance and fill additional bags.
Disaster Relief
The Club will aim to raise funds for Aquaboxes and one Shelterbox in 2014-15.
Microfinancing
The committee will consider investment recommendations via Kiva to assist enterprise in the Third World, subject to availability of funds.
Fundraising
The International Committee is committed to a lead role in an Auction of Promises Fundraising event on Friday 21st November 2014 at the Lisvane Memorial Hall.
Reaching out Internationally
The committee is to consider ways of linking with Clubs abroad using internet or Social media. The possibility of twinning will be considered.
Vision Aid Overseas
Our involvement here changed fundamentally in 2013-14 as the Charity now arranges collections direct with optometrists and recycles used spectacles to finance its work abroad. We will continue to support the aims of the Charity and encourage donations, as appropriate.
