Jazz Concert

Jacqui Dankworth with the Luton Youth Jazz Orchestra

Saturday 6 October 2012 7.30pm

High quality Jazz was heard last Saturday evening at the Grove Theatre Dunstable when Jacqui Dankworth, with her unique style, was in concert with the Luton Youth Jazz Orchestra.  The concert, organised by the Rotary Club of Luton North, was raising money for the NSPCC and other charities supported by Rotary.

A highlight of the evening came towards then end when Jacqui invited the Youth Orchestra and their vocalists on stage to join her with her last two numbers. They all blended well together leaving the audience of around 400 leaving with a warm glow and the young musicians with some very happy memories.  At the end Jacqui said that she was delighted to have been able to play with such an accomplished group of talented young people and Dame Cleo Laine, who was in the audience, said that she had thoroughly enjoyed the concert, and recognised both the talent and dedication of the youngsters.

As the audience left there was universal acclamation of the whole event.
