Fri 17th - Sun 19th May. Visit by our Belgian Twin Club Lerna Fontanis L'Eveque.

The weekend visit by our friends from our twin-club

They arrived on the morning of Friday 17 May, seven couples in all. They were met at the station by members of our club, who ferried them to The Bear. After lunch at The Plume, they enjoyed a guided walk around Hungerford (in French!) led by Hugh Pihlens. In the evening a most splendid BBQ with hog roast took place in the gardens of James and Susie Podger at Great Grooms, with live music provided by David Small and friends. The wonderful food was arranged by Rtn James Weir.
On the Saturday, the group enjoyed a trip to Oxford, where a guided tour was arranged with both English speakign and French speaking guides. Lunch was at Oxford's oldest tavern "The Turf", after which we enjoyed (and survived!) punting on the river Cherwell from Magdelen Bridge.
In the evening, we enjoyed a splendid dinner in a private function room at The Palm restaurant.President Nick Fritz said "I would like to express my thanks to all Rotarians and Partners that worked so hard to make their visit the undoubted success that it has been. In particular i would like to thank our secretary Mike Dorward for arranging such a wonderful programme of fellowship and fun and James Podger and the Youth Committee for the friday evening hog roast party."
