Some of the walkers & drivers of the 2012 walk
The Mary Queen of Scots Way is a new long-distance route that crosses Scotland from Arrochar to St Andrews, and does so largely offroad through splendid scenery. For more information, please see http://www.rucsacs.com/books/mqs/ which is linked to a gallery and detailed, zoomable route map.
Its creator is a Rotarian from Callander, Paul Prescott, and he gave our Club an illustrated talk about it on Friday 30 March.
Our Club's sponsored walk took place on Sunday May 6 As usual walkers were matched to the sections that suited their preferences for length and terrain. No part of the way is much more than an hour's drive from Stirling and it passes through many interesting places inked with the life of Scotland's famous, tragic monarch.
Fund collected will be 50% for CHAS whose Rachel House, Scotlands first childrens hospice, is in Kinross and 50% for End Polio Now/Rotary Foundation.
