Youth Activities

The youth committee keeps in contact with the schools in Stafford. They run several competitions including; Young Photographer, Young Artist, Young Chef, Young Musician as well as the Urban Explorers Project.

The Urban Explorer Project is currently in its second year. Each group provides 24 hours of workshop time, this being split inot 2-3 hour sessions as required.  

Below are the competitions that the Rotary Club of Stafford Knot are curently involved with.

Young Photographer information will be circulated to schools in November

There are 3 categories juniors (up to 11 years, secondary (12-16) and 6th form and college students (16 - 18 years). Winners will go forward to a District competition.

Young Artist will be judged in February by members of Gallery 12 in Eccleshall. There are 3 categories

11-14, 14 - 16, 16 - 18 years old. There are four places to win in each category.

Young Chef

This is a well established competition for students between 11 - 17 years. The competitor has to produce a healthy economical two course meal. Local participants compete at Stafford College using their facilities. Winners will go forward to a District competition.

Young Musician

This is a District and National competition. Entrants must be at least Grade 5 in their respective instrumsnt or vocal qualification. This competition is sponsored at national lebvel by Harrods. District final is in Telford on Sunday 5th March. The regional final is on Sunday 26th March in Telford. The national final is in Cardiff on Saturday 6th May. Competitors need to be available for all three dates. 

Young Citizen

This is a national competition sponsored by the BBC to identify young people under the age of 25 who have demonstrated on-going positive citizenship and assumed vital responsibilities. Final nominations need to be submitted by January 2017.
