Eddie Corben Memorial Dedication

A special memorial to a stalwart of the Swanage community was dedicated at a ceremony on the 9th of January 2008.

Swanage and Purbeck Rotary has raised funds to build an observation platform to commemorate the life of founder member Eddie Corben, who died in 2005 aged 86.

A stainless steel plate has been inscribed with the distances and direction to towns and cities, ranging from Bournemouth to Hong Kong and mounted on a purbeck stone plinth.

The monument is situated in the south east corner of Sandpit Field and was dedicated by the Rev. John Wood of Swanage with members of Eddie's family and friends in attendance.
