What we are doing for youth

Rotary Year 2011/12

RYLA: The Club continued the popular and successful Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) programme. RYLA courses are an intensive training programme in leadership development and teamwork for young people aged typically between 14 and 30

Talented young people are invited by Rotary Clubs to attend a RYLA course which can be a seminar, camp or workshop of three to ten days in length. Most courses are a blend of physical activity and cerebral activity producing a unique experience and learning environment.

The RYLA programme enables young people to debate issues of professional responsibility, improve leadership and communication skills, learn about businesses, institutions, and meet Rotarians while having fun making friends.

For young adults, RYLA provides the opportunity to refine skills and explore pertinent topics with their peers and elders.

Mock Interviews: The 2011 round of Mock Interviews for approx. 100 students was organised by Rtn Bob Royds during the week commencing Monday 5 December at Mullion Secondary School and Mullion Community Centre. A number of members and their wives formed interviewing panels for what again proved to be a successful youth event.

Youth Speaks: A team each from Year 9 and 10 of Mullion School particiipated in the area heat of Youth Speaks at Camborne School on Weds 22nd February.
