Rotary Club of Sittingbourne Invicta - supporting of our local community


Helping Our Local Community

Rotarians are keen to help others and are keen to provide support; both locally and internationally.

Helping at Events

Our club members volunteer annually;

  • as stewards at The Living Land event on the Kent Show ground
  • at events in Milton Creek Country Park
  • marshalling the car park for the Sittingbourne Striders 10 mile race event

Doing Practical Work

We put our practical skills to work undertaking;
  • tree planting in Milton Creek Country Park
  • coppicing work in Cromers Wood
  • painting and decorating (Quinton Community Playgroup, Phoenix House & CAB)
  • gardening at a local community allotment
  • litter picks and beach cleans
  • providing and installing two park benches at Milton Creek Country Park
  • kitchen refurbishment at Phoenix House
  • helping Sittingbourne Foodbanks relocate to a new warehouse

Volunteering with other Groups

Club members also volunteer in support of other groups & charities;

  • crewing on Kingfisher on the River Medway
  • telephoning lonely people each week in support of the Swale CVS Befreinding Service
  • on the air weekly at Rotary Radio UK
  • running monthly interviewing techniques courses at Sittingbourne Job Centre

Our Own Community Events

  • supporting local clubs and groups from our Community Chest
  • arranging river trips for the elderly & children with special needs on the River Medway
  • organising an annual 10K Race as a community event in Sittingbourne.
  • collecting annually on behalf of Marie Curie Caner Care's Great Daffodil Appeal 
  • cooking and serving Christmas dinner for homeless people
  • supporting Swale Foodbank
  • providing Christmas stockings to local children using the Sittingbourne Foodbank
  • supporting the Swale CVS Befriending scheme
