We're for Communities

Rotary is a worldwide network of men and women who translate their passions into relevant social causes, to change lives in communities.

Made up of over 1.2 million Rotary members - known as Rotarians - in 34,000 Rotary clubs in 200 countries and geographical areas around the world, Rotary International forms a global network of business, professional and community leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve communities locally and around the world - and form strong, lasting friendships in the process .

Rotary clubs are based within local communities, with their members meeting on a regular basis to enjoy friendship, networking, and to plan projects that will benefit the lives of others.

The worldwide organisation is over 100 years old and, since its humble beginnings in Chicago in 1905, is internationally renowned for improving the lives of millions of people in local communities and around the world ..

There is no such thing as a typical Rotary member, nor a typical club. Each one of our 1,850 Rotary clubs in Britain and Ireland has its own unique personality. Clubs meet on different days of the week, at different times of the day - morning, lunchtime and in the evenings - and are involved in a vast range of different projects and activities.

Yet the one thing they share is a common interest in friendship, making a difference and having a good time in the process. As well as serving their communities, clubs are communities in their own right - vibrant, focused and friendly ones. Our 54,000 members are men and women from all walks of life, of all ages from 18 upwards, with a host of different talents abd professional skills. Some joined Rotary for the social life, some for business networking opportunities, and others for the chance to give something back to their communities.
