Youth Opportunities

Our club joins with others on providing opportunities for young people through Kids Out, the Rotary Youth Leadership Programme, and encouraging public speaking and debating skills through the Youth Speaks programme between schools.

Legacy Youth Zone

We have several strands to our youth programme, many of them organised on a District wide basis. In particular we support  the Kids Out event in the summer with other clubs in the Region. This is always a fun and rewarding group of events.  Our own club supports two special local schools.

During the winter/spring our  priority is the Youth Speaks Programme, an opportunity for secondary school  to present  issues of their own choosing in competition with each other.  These local heats lead to regional and then national heats.

More recently we have begun to support the Legacy Youth Zone (  called Legacy by  its participants).  The Legacy  is a purpose built facility for Croydon's young people aged 8-19, and up to 25 for those with disabilities.  It provides  a range of activities and opportunities for these young people , some of which has been been curtailed over the lockdown.  The  Legacy has been rising to the challenge, including providing meals for the community and a mixture of virtual sessions, as well as support and well-being calls. The Club has provided financial support and hopes to work more closely with them in the future.
