Community & Vocational

As in 2015, 2016 sees Westhill Rotarians putting their green fingers to good use. As well as looking after their own green patches the club members will be taken over responsibility for the hanging basket displays around the town.

Rotary is a service organisation and through the Club's  community service activities we try to improve the quality of life for all residents and businesses within our Westhill & District communities.

Clubs' activities include promoting the welfare of people in the community by providing assistance and support to those in need, improving the community's environment, and showing leadership with regards to developments and growth within the community.

Westhill Rotarians are , in 2018-19, looking to expand their Community involvement.

Chair this year for Community activities is Mike Tolstyko who has already put feelers out to see where the club can become more involved in the community.

We've already started with helping the Ashdale Hall in Westhill in tidying up theri garden areas and will continue to work on refurbishing the gardens with new planting over the next 6 months. Helping with transport to churches etc is also on the cards and we are looking to have a greater dialogue with the other voluntary groups in Westhill to see how we might work together to the advantage of the community. Some interesting developments are in the pipeline.

We will of course be holding our annual Senior Citizens' Christmas Party in December ( more on that later)

We are well advanced in the provision of defibrillators for the area, working with St John's and looking to increase the numbers available to the community....look out for more information

Any ideas for community projects, please get in touch.

When Rotarians are not raising funds, they are most frequently seen by the general public at community service projects, perhaps at the Westhill and Skene galas, clearing sites, planting bulbs etc., perhaps building something, or just supporting a worthy cause.
