The Rotary Foundation Team

The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

Llanidloes 2014-2015 Rotary Foundation Project is to be part of:

The Nepalese Project - in conjunction with The Nepal Trust:

To Equip & Initially Staff the Nepal Trust Renewable Energy Service Centre & Workshop in Simikot, the principle town in a very remote part of the NW Nepalese Himalayas - and central to the area of Humla District (pop 44,000), where the Nepal Trust operates.

The Service Centre & Workshops will train & equip local villagers in the essential skills necessary to maintain and service their existing Community Hydro & Solar Electricity Projects; as well as training them to become Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Metal Workers etc, and providing necessary spare parts.

Thereby, providing the means for mountain villages to improve and sustain their livelihoods through clean energy technologies and to benefit from increased employment and business opportunities as well as conserving their environment & forests, which are rapidly being depleted.

This will also free up local Nepal Trust Staff to initiate much needed further essential Health & Hydro/Solar Schemes in Humla District.
