Visit to Hill Farm Gestingthorpe


Some months ago local farmer Ashley Cooper from Hill Farm, Gestingthorpe came to talk to the club about a Roman Villa that had been discovered on the farm. It all started when his father began excavations there back in 1949 and since that time Ashley had not only been directly involved in the excavations but has also researched the period and published a number of texts around the discovery.

The talk was fascinating and Ashley subsequently invited us to visit the farm for a guided tour. As you can see from the photo
