A large turnout of Hawick Rotarians welcomed the head pupil team from Hawick High School to their meeting last Thursday. Abbie McGaughey, Charlie Stewart, Ellis Hodgins and Jake Szoneberg accompanied by Depute Headteacher Mrs Lisa Scott, enjoyed a meal with the members before telling them of their feelings about being part of that head team and about their ambitions for the future, both during this school year and later. The four students listed their hoped for careers as, in alphabetical order, Children's Nurse, Engineer, Medicine and Police and they were asked to expand on these wishes.
Members posed them a very varied list of questions which were all ably answered, and it was generally agreed at the close that they were a credit to themselves, to their parents and to the school.
Rotary International encourages Corporate Membership and it was suggested that discussions should be held with the High School so that links between School and Club could be drawn closer.
