Helping the disabled to enjoy the pleasure of our island beaches.
BeachAbility provide specially designed wheelchairs to allow the disabled easy access to our sandy beaches. Tuesday 9th June saw the opening of their 6th location at La Mare slip on the south coast of Jersey. The wheel chairs are housed in secure "sheds" throughout the summer ready for use which is free of charge. They are so popular booking is essential for full details please visit BeachAbility's web site here.
Rotary's contribution of £5,000 purchased the secure shed at La Mare and one of the special wheel chairs which is located at the Gunsite Cafe base.
The chair picture in the photographs of the opening were provided courtesy of funding by Jersey Cheshire Homes who need even further adapted wheelchairs for their residents who live nearby.
