Eight local organisations made their case for cash to help their work at Horwich RMI which followed a successful similar event last year.
Horwich Rotary President Tom Mather, Chairman of the Community Committee Keith Maher and Bolton News’ columnist and freelance journalist Angela Kelly took the role of “dragons” for the enjoyable occasion. The evnt was hosted wonderfully by Rtn. Rachel Sawbridge, ably assisted by Rtn. Margot Mather.
In the event, all eight of the organisations asking for financial help were given average grants of £500 each.
Mr Mather congratulated all the groups on their “excellent presentations” and wished them all well in their endeavours.
The 6th Horwich Beaver Scout Group received money for two event shelters to help with camping trips. Siobhan Victoria’s School of Dance asked for funding towards a defibrillator for its Lee Lane premises, to also be used by local people.
Horwich St Mary’s Victoria FC received funding towards senior football kit for their new open age teams, and Hunters Cheerleading PTA wanted to boost their competitive expertise with four stunt group musical mixes.
Elderly residents of Flockton Court Social Group will now be able to enjoy the garden more easily with new benches and the 26th Bolton Horwich Brownies are now off on a coach trip to South Lakes Safari Zoo.
Horwich RMI Cricket Club wanted a grant to help more youngsters enjoy cricket with special sessions, and 18th Bolton Scout Group asked for help to improve camping equipment.
