Welcome to Banffshire Cycle Challenge 2017
Sunday 28th May - 10am, starting from Banff Harbour

Following a very successful event in 2016, when over £5000 was raised, this is the fifth year of the Banffshire Cycle Challenge, organised by the Rotary Club of Banff and supported by the Banff Round Table and The Inner Wheel Club of Banff. It is designed to encourage participation by cyclists of all ages and abilities from first timers to experienced riders.

The Banff Rotary Club has a long history of organising local charity events such as the Vintage & Classic Car Day, as well as assisting with other events such as the local Fireworks Display, and it wanted to promote an activity which is growing in popularity, is fun, enhances achievement and engenders well-being. In order to ensure that all ages could take part, 2 routes have been designed, the longer 25 mile route for those seeking a challenge, with a shorter 5 mile route  designed for those with restricted abilities, families and children.

Both routes meander through areas of picturesque rural and coastal scenery with stunning views of the Banffshire countryside and the Moray Firth. The routes follow tarred roads, with the longer route suitable for both high-performance racing bikes and mountain bikes. However the event is designed as a challenge, not a race!

The Banffshire Cycle Challenge has been organised to raise funds for two nominated charities Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie Cancer Care as well as local Rotary supported charities and local youth sport development. There is also an exciting opportunity for local groups to raise money for their own organisations via sponsorship with the group getting back at least 75% of the sponsorship raised. More information on this can be found on the Taking part page here.

The event is supported by a main sponsor, Benzies of Turriff.
