Taunton Rotary Club has today announced its support for a Community Arts 'In Isolation' Project, to be run by Go-Create, Somerset's premier organisation for local artists.
£500 has been provided to Go-Create as part of the Club's response to meeting the needs of those in isolation. Go-Create, the initiator of the project will reach out to those in isolation with two creative projects with which any individual or group can get involved.
Projects include the creation of a community puzzle, aimed at pulling together the emotions and feelings of those in isolation, whilst the second project will be a patchwork banner created by those in isolation. Once complete the patchwork squares will be sewn together and become part of an exhibition in Taunton after lockdown. Equipment and materials can be provided as part of the project.
In addition to materials donated by Rotarians, £100 has also been donated to the YMCA Dulverton, to provide art materials to the homeless who are curently accommodated at the Canonsgrove halls of residence. 45 residents are taking part and have been provided with an art pack of materials.
Taunton Roatry President Tony Cox said, 'This funding recognises the enormous contribution that the arts can play in helping others. Go-Create is a terrific organisation and we know for sure these projects will touch the hearts and minds of those in need of stimulation and connection'.
Go-Create Taunton is a community interest company made up of creative practitioners who tirelessly promote and support artists locally.
