2018 Opening Doors to a Brighter Future Careers Event

Wed, Jan 17th 2018 at 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Careers event on Wed 17 Jan 2018 offering the best advice for 13 - 17 year olds about vocational opportunities. If university is not for you, but you still want a challenging and rewarding career, then this event will help you decide what to do.

What an amazing careers event organised by The Rotary Club of Lostwithiel !!!

Invites were sent out to local schools for youngsters that were thinking about their option choices.  Over 350 pupils from Wadebridge and Brannel Schools attended the event which was held in the Gallery Room at the Eden Project.

The day started off with a motivational talk from Lostwithiel's very own Mr Bill Clarke, who is Chairman of Trewithen Dairy.  He highlighted the various structures that are found within all businesses and stressed what employers required of any potential employee, including the basics of punctuality (ie, turning up to work on time!).

After this, the pupils had time to browse the various trade and industry stands around the room, which enabled them to have a go at, interact with and gather information and guidance on the subjects and the potential vocational career opportunities that interested them.

Staff from the Schools that attended said it is such a well organised event that it gives so much opportunity and advice to the vocationally minded students, and that it was a definite help to young people in choosing their career path for later on in life.
