About us

What is Rotary?

It's an international organisation of men and women whose aim is to use their business and professional skills to put something back into the community - both at home and abroad.  We believe in 'service above self'; this principle guides our activities and we have a lot of fun along the way!  It's hard to describe the fellowship aspect of Rotary; no matter where you are there will usually be someone who is also a member and a club you can visit.  Being a Rotarian opens the doors to a fantastic range of activities and experiences.

About our Club:

We are a relatively young, mixed club.  We meet every Friday at 7.30 am for breakfast (in the Scholars Restaurant at the University of Central Lancashire).  Our meetings are an hour long and they"™re a great start to the day.  Our 'style' is informal and we pride ourselves in being open and welcoming.

As we are a city centre club our members are drawn from a wide area - as people come to our meetings on their way to work in Preston or on their way elsewhere.  Our membership is drawn widely from the professions: health and teaching; the law and accountancy; banking, insurance and law enforcement.  Other members are involved in building and design and charitable organisations.

What do we do?

Our weekly programme is varied: with a speaker each month and fellowship or business meetings in between.  We support a number of projects and events both locally and internationally.  Additionally there are social activities for our members, families and friends.

For more details use the tab "What we do" at the top of this home page.

What's in a name?

We were formed in 1993, just after the Preston Guild of 1992 - hence the name.
