About us

“Help make a difference!”

Thank you for finding your way to the website of the Rotary Club of Witney, District 1090.  Witney is an attractive old Cotswold town, located in West Oxfordshire, with a growing population of about 30,000.

I have been a member of Rotary for 36 years and this is the second time I have served as President of the Club.  I am descended from a family of Witney blanket-makers, trained as an engineer, and was most recently employed as a lecturer at Abingdon and Witney College.

The Club was chartered in 1955.  We have always been much involved in the local community – we help to run the annual July Carnival and the Christmas Lights switch-on, support a thriving Interact Club at Wood Green School, and promote community environment projects.  We are also involved in the wider world – hosting Global Scholars, supporting Rotary’s international campaign to eliminate polio, and fund-raising to send Shelter Boxes to disaster areas.  We believe that our effectiveness is much enhanced when we collaborate with other organisations, especially those with local or Rotary connections.

Whether you are visiting our website to find out who we are and what we do, or to seek assistance with a particular venture, or because you might want to join us as a member, we hope that you find what you are looking for.  If not, please ask!
