About us

WELCOME! : Introduction to Rotary

There is a popular misconception that Rotary is an exclusive, male-only organisation, which invites the sort of people to join who would fit in with its professional status.

This is no longer correct!

Rotary has been admitting female members for some years, and contains a wide social mix of occupations. And we are looking for new members!

What we do is meet weekly for an evening meal at the Great House in Hawkhurst, mainly for fellowship, but also to hear speakers on various topics, and plan our other activities. These consist partly of fund-raising for local or international charities, but also fun days, a treasure hunt, perhaps.

There is another popular conception that Rotary does good works.

This is correct!

We see ourselves as servants of our local community, and try to get involved in anything non-political which seems to enhance the local identity. At each Meeting we reaffirm our commitment to this ideal.

If you are interested in joining us,  please contact us via the information given on this website.
