Using the menu on the left, you can find out more about what we do. We are a part of Rotary International, which is the world's largest service organisation.
The Rotary Club of Battle currently has 17 members and warmly welcomes new members who would like to contribute to helping with local, national and international projects. We support local charities such as St Michael's Hospice, Battle Area Community Transport, the Battle Preschool Playgroup, the Guides, Beautiful Battle as well as many deserving causes. The Club hosts the town's Senior Citizens in the splendid surroundings of Battle Abbey School each Christmas and organises the annual 1066 Walk in cooperation with St Michael's Hospice which is the major beneficiary. We help many local schools through the Rotary Youth Speaking and Young Writers competition as well as Group Study Exchanges. Internationally, through the international Rotary Shelter Box scheme, we have helped victims of natural disasters and sent many of the basic items of life as well as toys and writing materials, to the poorest children of Eastern Europe. We continue to provide funds for Rotary International's Polio Plus scheme for the eradication of polio in the world. We are teamed with the Rotary Club of Papendrecht in Holland and joined together to coordinate a project in Ghana to help a women's refuge become more self-sufficient in food.
Weekly lunchtime meetings are at the heart of our activities where members share a meal and enjoy friendship with one another. Once a month lunch is combined with a business meeting and throughout the year we are entertained and informed by speakers on a wide variety of subjects. When there is a 5th Tuesday in the month the meetings are normally held in the evening with partners and friends welcome to attend. The Club also organises a lively programme of social and sporting activities.
If you are a Rotarian visiting the area, you will be made welcome at one of our meetings - check the venue and programme pages for further details.
