About us

Furness Peninsula Rotary was Chartered on 23rd February 2009 to bring together men and women to give service to our community and to enjoy good fellowship. We also raise funds to support local, national and international good causes.

We meet on Thursday evenings at 6.30 for 7pm at The Holiday Inn, Market Street, Barrow in Furness, LA14 2LE.

The Club is active in all avenues of Rotary Service.  Furness Peninsula Rotarians have played leading roles in several projects such as local Be Well Fests, Wrap up Cumbria and creating spectacular gardens at Furness General Hospital to give pleasure to visitors and patienls alike. In addition we have in partnership with many other organisations provided help and support with local, national and international projects.
The club runs other fund raising activities  such as craft fairs, quiz nights, coffee mornings, auctions and funds raised are distributed  to the the Rotary Foundation and other local charities and good causes.
The club contributes to projects specifically aimed at young people which help increase their confidence such as Rotakids, Interact and the Rotary Youth Project of Enrichment (RYPEN) and support disabled individuals  to participate on a Calvert Trust week organised by Rotary. We also work with local schools.

Members are also active in many other spheres of local life, fulfilling the Rotary motto

'Service above Self'
