Making our Presence Known


We began at Lisvane Station in June 2018 with Geraint Morgan from, now, TFW to plant flowers in the new planters on the fences. We re-planted in October and most recently in May 2019 with 3 additional planters. These pictures are shown. Scroll down.

The Club normally makes a trip to enjoy a Christmas Market/s in Europe each year.

Remembrance: Armistice 100 years


The Club organised a Partners Evening and vists to Ty Coch and St Isan's Residential Care Homes. At all venues we had readings of poetry and prose from famous writers and members. Additionally the pop up choir led the singing of songs of the time.

"The Wedding"


On 25th August 2018 at St. Pauls Cathedral in London Rotarians Paul Johnson BEM and Jill Shortland OBE were married.

Social Events Members and Partners


The President's Wife Kathy hosts afternoon tea for members partners at Llanishen Golf Club on 23rd October 17. The picture indicates that it was an enjoyable and successful occasion.

For many years now we have, in cooperation with Cardiff Model Engineering Society, organised this event for children and teachers/carers at Heath Park.

A reception was held at the Senedd in Cardiff 0n 25th May 2018 hosted by The Rt. Hon Carwyn Jones to Celebrate the Centenary of Rotary in Wales.

Young Musician Competition


We sponsor young people for this competition annually. This year we sponsored 18 year old Olivia Georghiades a pupil at Howells School. Olivia played Piano in the Instrumentalist section of the competition giving a very good performance.

Young Carers Cardiff & Vale


Rotary clubs of Cardiff and Vale have supported Young Carers since 2004 and have developed a Saturday Youth Club at the Pavilion Centre a programme of Respite Care to help develop their potential and character. Paul Johnson; Jill Shortland Jim Price

Paul Harris Awards


PAUL HARRIS FELLOWSHIP. This prestigious award,established in 1957, is presented to Rotarians and others in recognition of outstanding service, community and Club. Rotarians Phillip (Sapphire) & Julian shown receiving the award in October 2017.

End Polio Now


The crocus (purple) is the Rotary emblem of the campaign to end polio in the world and here the children at Peterlea Primary School are being made aware of the world campaign by planting crocus bulbs at their school.

Foundation Fund Raising


We held our Annual Foundation Evening on Friday 20th October 17 at Llanishen High School. Our evening featured the Bedwas, Trethomas and Machen Brass Ensemble who gave a premier performance with a great variety of music - and humour! We raised over £1100.

Rotary Welsh Disabled Sports at Newport on 6th November 2016. Members of Cardiff East provided and supervised Target Tennis. .

Youth Speaks


A full house at Cardiff Golf Club enjoyed a superb evening when teams from six schools competed in the Youth Speaks Area Final. We sponsored a team from Cardiff High in the Intermediate Competition.

Interaction/co-operation With Other Clubs, District and RIBI


Cardiff East seeks and undertakes contact and co-operation with other clubs including social events, fund raising and service.

The Welsh Amateur Gymnastics Association Competition


The Welsh Amateur Gymnastics Association Competition for children with special needs was held at the Wales Sports Centre in Cardiff on 17th March 2017. Rotary sponsored the awards & trophies which were presented by various Rotarians who attended.

International Support for Charities

Scouts and Guides


Cardiff East assisted the Scouts fete again in June 2018 at Victoria Park Cardiff. Members led by Alan and Jen Fleet provided the Tombola stall and ran the "lucky duck" prize game. The club raised over £100 for Rotary charities.

The Club's 60th Anniversary of Charter was held at the New House Country Hotel on Wednesday 20th April 2016. Here President Julian Johns with the Lord Mayor Cllr. David Walker presents a donation to the Lord Mayor's chosen charity, Velindre Cancer Centre
