Allan and Ann Rotchell from Action Kenya will be attending this meeting. The Club will be presenting them with some solar lights for use by the pupils at the school in Gede, Kenya.

Sat 2nd May 2015 ShelterBox - Appeal for Nepal

Our appeal in the Gracechurch Centre, Sutton Coldfield to support the people affected by the recent earthquake in Nepal raised an incredible £2017.14. Many thanks to everyone who supported.

Mon 20th April 2015 - Rotary Schools' Football Competition

Now in its fourth year, the competition for up to Year 6 pupils attracted 80 players from 7 local schools making up 10 teams. A very exciting competition won by pupils from Hill West Primary after a 1-1 draw that went to a penalty shootout.

Scouts from the Birmingham Jamboree Unit made a very good presentation about their forthcoming trip to Japan. We hope they'll come back and tell us all about it!

Accompanied by our District Governor John Crawford, Peter King and his wife Di found time on their action packed tour of the Midlands to call into the Troop Aid warehouse,where we pack grab bags for injured troops. www.troopaid.info

We will not be meeting at our normal venue this evening, but will instead be eating at the Eastern Restaurant, 24 The Lanes Shopping Centre, Wylde Green, Sutton Coldfield, B72 1YG. Time 7 for 7.30 pm.

What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Good company, a scrumptious tea and such fine music from Colin Bell. We are so grateful to everyone who supported us, and are thrilled to have raised over £1200 for Dementia UK supporting Admiral Nurses.

The 7 Pools Run is a 10KM cross country run around the seven pools in Sutton Park and is held in March every year. The Club will be helping by providing some of the marshals.

Admiral Nurse Jackie Aird received over £4800 from our sponsored walk last summer and our Inner Wheel Club’s quiz to be used locally towards Caring in Dementia Days where carers can be given information and support about dementia.

This took place at The Lodge,Canon Pyon,Near Hereford. Everyone had a fantastic weekend. The weather was kind, the house was really nice and there was good food and fellowship.

We were delighted to be asked to join the Rotary Club of Birmingham Breakfast for their Civic Breakfast in the company of The Lord Mayor of Birmingham Councillor Shafique Shah.

Wed 4th February 2015 Youth Speaks

A public speaking competition for pupils between the ages of 11 and 18 run by Rotary nationwide. The Senior Level was won by Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls. Bishop Vesey School entered at Intermediate Level and can proceed to the next round.

Mon 2nd February 2015 John Lewis Community Matters – Ventura Park, Tamworth store

Every three months £3000 from the fund is shared between three good causes in the same proportions as the tokens that have been dropped in the Community Matters box. Please help us by dropping your green tokens in our box supporting Dictionaries for Life.

Packwood to Baddesley Clinton with lunch afterwards at the Red Lion pub in Knowle. A sunny winter's day though it was described as a taxing walk as it was 6 miles and very muddy throughout. Thanks again to Nick and Penny for organising.

Along with Rotarians from other Clubs, we will be supporting this evening's supper at Grounds Farm, Wishaw, organised by the Rotary Club of Birmingham Breakfast.

Tue 13th January 2015 Joe Dyke; The Prostate Support Group

Joe Dyke spoke about the work of The Prostate Support Group which meets at Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield, providing support and advice to the men who have been newly diagnosed with prostate problems. The Club raised £700 to support home visits.

The event will be held at Greenacres, the Leonard Cheshire Residential Home in Sutton Coldfield. Some of our members regularly provide assistance to residents at the home.

We were so pleased to be able to support the Inner Wheel Club of Wylde Green when 3 mobility bikes were donated to Wilson Stuart School in Erdington, marking 90 years of Inner Wheel as an Association and 80 years as District 6.

A special Christmas themed day for children with special needs, and their carers.Free access to 21 rides and attractions, the 4D cinema showing the film 'Polar Express', including picnic lunch, and Santa will have a gift for every child. Fireworks at 5pm.

Santa arrived today on the first of his visits to Asda in Minworth. We are very grateful to the store for allowing us to collect there for many good local causes.

Eric and Tony decided they wanted to each grow a moustache during November to show support for Movember, as the issues touched by the campaign affect so many lives. So far the Club has raised over £300 in support of this initiative.

This year there were 7 teams taking part, coming from as far afield as Essex and Wakefield. The Club has again sponsored the Pitstop Competition that was won by the team from Essex. A good time was had by all!

Fri 11th July 2014 Dictionaries for Life

For the seventh year running the Club has supported the national literacy programme with their Dictionary For Life project by gifting over 200 dictionaries to pupils in four local schools. Pupils at Wylde Green Primary School are pictured.

It started and finished at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas with an opportunity to see around at the end of the walk. As it is nice and light in the mornings this was again a breakfast ramble about 5 miles in duration. Thanks to Nick and Penny.
